Music Policy
MoMusicVideo is a legal download music service for artists and record labels.

We provide an accessible route to manage the sale and download of mp3s from your own specially designed shopfront.

It's an exciting time for music sales and distribution over the internet.
The music fan is on the cusp of riches in their options as there are an increasing number of places to go for great music.

There are also an increasing variety of arrangements encountered when buying music online. MoMusicVideo's policy on music sales are stated below.

Selling Music files using MoMusicVideo

Like an increasing number of music services, music sales from MoMusicVideo are made without the limitation of copy protection software or hardware constraints.

Copyright applies as it normal would for all music sold from the site, but there are no DRM (Digital Rights Management) software limitations on the music purchased from the site once paid for and downloaded by the user.

This means the user can listen to their new mp3s on the widest variety of music players on the market.

One reason for choosing this route is that Digital Rights Management software has not worked. There is no common standard for DRM - it has had the effect of rendering songs purchased for one type of music player unable to work on another. This has led to Apple CEO Steve Jobs to recently call for DRM on music to be rethought - see his essay Thoughts on Music.

Additionally, DRM places a barrier to sales, with most music listeners prefering to enjoy music in non-protected formats like Compact Discs, which they can listen to anywhere. Only 3% of the music in a typical music listeners library is protected by any form of copy protection. Indeed, scrapping DRM is likely to increase online-music sales by reducing confusion and incompatibility.

MoMusicVideo does not limit the end users enjoyment of your artists music in this way.

Previewing Music in the Mo Player

MoMusicVideo protects your artists music by allowing only a proportion of any track to be be previewed in your shop's music player - protecting any direct access to the file and allowing the listener to hear only the first minute or so of the recording.

This means the full mp3 will never be available to any visitors to the site until they have paid for your music - whilst at the same time giving visitors to your shop a chance to listen to a playlist of your artists work.
